Aquaread Multiparameters in Iranian Wetlands
BABenviro at November 2021 has been granted by CIWP to provide, train and maintain the water quality meters for the wetlands of three provinces in Iran. The Wetlands which needed to be equipped with water quality probes are located in West Azarbaijan, Fars, and Khuzestan provinces. BABenviro has successfully done different projects with the Department of Environment and CIWP. Projects for Algae monitoring of the ROPME algae measurement in the Persian Gulf and online monitoring stations of the wetlands like Solduz, Kani Brazan, Choghakhor wetlands, and Lake Urmia. In these projects in the first step, essential water quality parameters were considered. Parameters like water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and salinity were included in all stations. The time series of these parameters in different levels of lakes as a water body helped to establish a better understanding of the water quality changes in these waterbodies. But the most important parameter in these arid years was the water balance of the wetlands. The amount of water that comes into the lake and the amount of outgoing water plays a big role in the life cycle of the wetlands in Iran. Algae Torch, a case study
Mellat Park (the Nation’s Park), is one of the most popular parks in Tehran with a large body of water in the middle of it. For the past few years, this body of water has been attacked by a major algae bloom. Situated at the foot of the Alborz mountain, Mellat park is one of the largest recreation areas in Iranian capital which extends all the way to the west. The park lies in the southern grounds of Tehran International Fair and Enghelab Club. It is watered by the winter-snow streams coming down from Mount Tochal which stands 4,000 m high. It has a long walking trial as well as stations for those who want to picnic. This park is home to the first musical fountains in Tehran. Since July 2008, it attracts and entertains many families at night. However, the fountains don’t work properly due to the algae bloom. This algae has affected the good operation of the musical fountain. The high amount of micro algae inhabitants makes the ponds green and during summer omits a foul and irritating smell. Inauguration at Latian dam
The most advance monitoring station in Iran has been inaugurated by the Energy minister-deputy, Mr. Rahim Meydani, and the head of pollution prevention in Tehran, Dr Eslamizadeh. "This station is the first of its kind and it has been tested and run for months before the inauguration" Said Eslamizadeh. "Not only the station is able to detect pollution in the water but also it has the most advanced alarming system in case of danger" he continued. BAB has been involved in designing and providing solution for this station. The Toxprotect 64 and ISA analyzer have been used in this station.
